Ruby Tuesday at Washington Crossing, PA
A few photos from our trip to Washington Crossing Historical Park in Washington Crossing, PA: lots of cars and vans cross this busy, narrow bridge over the Delaware River.
Watch out: the bridge may be icy (not a chance on this August day).
Here’s a sculpture of George Washington crossing the Delaware River with U.S. flags waving.
I was wondering if this red leaf signifies fall is coming? Or is it a sign of an unhealthy tree, that is turning red too soon?
For more photos with a little or a lot of red, visit Ruby Tuesday, hosted by Mary:

Icy bridges? That is something that we almost never see out here in LA. Looks very pretty.
leoraw says
Jack, would love to see you post some LA bridges. Or maybe write about one?

Hi Leora, looks like a lovely area. We have been across many an icy bridge over the years, always know they freeze first. A lesson I learned once many years ago when a car after crossing one came at us in the other direction hydroplaning into our lane and missing us by about a foot!

I wish they would warn people about icy bridges in France!
Fine statue!

Beautiful pictures. May be the tree read the sign and believed it - time to go red :) I like the sense of humor in your post. The red leaf is my fave!
leoraw says
Glad you like the red leaf shot - those are the kind of shots I can get with my new Canon Rebel xTi that I couldn't get with my Canon Powershot.
Ellie says
The camera is probably important, but more important is the ability to spot the interesting reality piece - and you always. Also thank you for visiting my Mom's blog ?Nadine/- she will start to respond by herself soon - I hope she will be brave enough soon :)It is a train on her photo.

I LOVE that last shot with the red leaves! I've been seeing quite a few leaves turning early this year.

Amazing where red can be found, isn't it. I'm guessing something happened to the leaf where it joins to the tree.
Fall foliage is probably going to be spectacular this year because we've had so much rain. :-)

What a quaint bridge, simple and minus the confounding traffic you see on I-95, Ben Franklin and Walt Whitman bridges. A crossing more convenient than Washington's crossing by boat - and despite the travails he faced, captured the Hessians in Trenton to boot! Autumn is not here yet, just a poor wayward leaf!

icy bridge, red leaf
you were traveling in time!!
considering how hot it is that would be a pleasure
great photos

We have been known to get ice in August up here. Sighs....I saw a yellow leaf yesterday too.

I immediately started thinking of the history this area has seen when I read that the bridge went over the Delaware River. Then I scrolled to the statue of Washington and I was fascinated by the knowledge that that moment in history truly is locked in peoples' memory. We must never forget what we fought so hard for or we will foolingly give it away and not even know it is gone until it IS gone.

I enjoy your spirit and determination.

I love the last photo! It reminds me of the song/poem "The Last Leaf." Happy RT everyone! :)

I think the red leaf is an early sign of fall. We're past mid-August... ouch. Maybe I'm just an optimist.
Nice pics.
Dimple says
I think the last photo is wonderful. I don't think it is too early for fall, although one can hope!

We will not have a chance to see an icy bridge in tropical Singapore. :)
I like the red leaf. Time flies, autumn is approaching.

Nice pictures!
I should show the second one to my son. He learned about split rail fences when he did a book report on a biography of Abraham Lincoln last year.

Love the red leaf. That is a really nice composition. Well done. Happy RT.

That's a lot of warnings for one little bridge...the red leaf is great! Have colors already begun to turn there or is this a previous fall?
leoraw says
It was one little tree that had turned colors; all the others are green as green can be. So it made me wonder if something unhealthy was causing the tree to display bright foliage this early.

Did you take route 80 out of NJ toward Delaware, Leora? I was on Route 80 last week when we visited Long Valley and Chester, NJ It would be real easy for us to drive over to the Delaware River and check out the plce where Washington crossed the Delaware... Love all the reds. :)
leoraw says
This is further south than Route 80. We took Route 1 going there and then Route 27 to return. Lots to see/do at Washington Crossing, both the PA and New Jersey sides.

I think Fall will be here soon, whether we like it or not. Great RT post!

I think that single red leaf is an early sign that autumn is on it's way... sad, but not as sad as the possibility of the tree dying :)

The photos are wonderful, and thank you for sharing them with us.
Icy bridges are almost upon us.

I am ready for summer to say farewell..I don't like the heat. And the contrast from A/C to outside and back is starting to get to me!
I like the single red leaf on the tree. And the first photo with the bridge looking rather wavy! Interesting angle you got there.
Happy Ruby Tuesday!
