Ruby Tuesday at Farmers Market
Every Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the summer and early fall there is a farmers market in Highland Park. I buy organic parsley, lettuce, beets and kale (what I buy varies each week) from a particular organic food stand at the market. Sometimes I buy the flowers for someone else as a gift.
My favorite produce that grows in New Jersey are the peaches. I buy a lot; my eldest son loves peaches, and so do I.
In fact, the peaches are one of the best parts of living in New Jersey. In the photo you can also see sugar plums, another tasty treat.

What beautiful photos, Leora. The peaches look ready for a pie. :) Or, for cobbler.

These peaches look awesome. I especially LOVE Ontario peaches, mostly because they are super fresh here. Those in your photo have a lovely blush so I bet they are tasty too. ;-)

Delicious. Much better than the ones in the supermarket. Now that I know Ontario has good peaches, maybe we'll arrange a vacation next summer...hmmm...

I so hope the Norwegian farmers will go together and create a Farmer's Market too.
The flowers so beautifully set together, I'd buy the whole bucket.
Peaches are not my favorite just now. I guess that's because they are all imported.
Strawberries, raspberries, even red currant are fresh and unsurpassed for the time being.

I can smell those peaches - yum - the sunflowers and the baskets make the scene so rustic - organic - nature - love!
Ilana-Davita says
Your photos are really good; especially the second and third ones. I love peaches too and nectarines.
leoraw says
My son strongly prefers peaches to nectarines, so I almost never buy the nectarines any more. I like both.
Marites says
oh so pretty! love your photos, they're really nice. my RT is up too.
Ralph says
The peaches look fine, the uses so delicious. A pie of peaches is a treat, warmed up with either vanilla ice cream or whipped, either one melting just so, making a creamy base for my favorite pie!

Those rosy peaches look delicious. And the lucky friend of yours!
Happy Tuesday.

or basket of plums.

I love our farmers markets during the summer. This year the fruit hasn't been all that good due to the weather, but the peaches did fine. I love them...
lawstude says
too bad we don't grow peaches here in my country but i do like canned version of it. really tasty.
leoraw says
Hard to imagine no peaches - but you probably have sweet, tropical fruits like mango, or other ones that we only know through the supermarket.
Carletta says
The flowers are such a varied and vibrant bouquet.
Peaches - my Dad loved them. These you've shown look quite plump. It's been awhile since I've had a really good fresh peach. I have had bread pudding with peaches and a warm dish of that would be so good. :)

the photos are beautiful
right out of a gourmet magazine
NJ Living had a spread about farmer markets and their photos weren't half as pretty
leoraw says
We bloggers are going to kill the print market - or maybe just give them some idea of what beauty looks like! People will still buy magazines, I think - nice to hold those glossy things in your hand on a porch, with a cup of tea.

I lived at the Jersey shore most of my life and my favorite veggie from our garden was Tomatoes. You just can't beat a Jersey tomato for taste. We buy them here in Florida when they are in season.
leoraw says
So far, the tomatoes I've bought haven't been that great, and the ones in my garden are green. Too much rain. At least the peaches are great.

These photos of the Farmer's Market wares are wonderful. The peaches look delicious. I also love nectarines.
Blueberries are also a big crop in New Jersey, aren't they?
I'm officially addicted to them. I was even thinking of blogging about them!
Happy (belated) Ruby Tuesday, Leora. I got my post up rather late yesterday...
leoraw says
Patti,
Peaches, blueberries and corn are the big farm products in New Jersey. Sometimes I think of making a blueberry pie, but I would rather just eat them out of the container. Better yet, off the bush.
Patti V. says
I wish I had a blueberry bush..yum!

The peaches are looking very inviting to my palate :P

Bright and lovely photos from the Highland Park Farmers Market! Thanks for sharing Leora. I haven't stopped by the Market yet, I'd better do so before the summer ends! After seeing your pictures, I feel like I'm missing out on something here!
Please leave a comment! I love to hear from you.
