Today’s Flower: Pink Shrub

pink_shrub_sky
My neighbor has this lovely pink shrub that overhangs into my backyard. Guild-rez has just written in a comment that the shrub is weigela. According to Wikipedia, the genus is named after the German scientist Christian Ehrenfried Weigel.

I enjoy photographing all these cascades of pink bugle-like flowers.

Dainty, isn’t it?

First one is good but I like the 2nd one better...

Reply
leoraw says

The 2nd one has four layers of depth. Maybe that's why you like it?

I think I like 2nd one because there is bit of everything... first one is like a common shot everyone tries to take that hehe 2nd one has flowers, buds, green plant etc... first one's dark background makes it sad looking and 2nd ones busy background makes it look cheerful!

They are a pretty little flower. I think I like the last shot best. I don't know what they called.

I'm probably wrong, but could it be an azalea? I have only seen them in white, light purple and red.

In any event, it's a very pretty flowering bush.

I don't think it's an azalea, unless it's related. I have lots of azaleas. This is bigger and has different shapes to the flowers.

What a wonderful picture of a pink flowered "Weigela".
Hummingbirds adore Weigela flowers, particularly those with red or pink flowers. ...
-Cheers.

Thank you so much! Weigela -- and now I'm wondering how one pronounces such a word...

What fantastic photos! I like them all, each one a beauty on its own. I especially like the first one, and I'm not trying to be a copy cat. LOL.

The tones and contrasts are wonderful.

So very pretty Leora. I am happy to see that Guild-rez identified it as I am always very curious about flowers I don't know the name of. You took some wonderful photographs, thanks for sharing them with us.
